As a freelance copywriter I spend much of my day in silence in my home office which can sometimes feel claustrophobic. There are days when the sound of my own thoughts can get intense. I'm lucky that my local town has an amazing community workspace for start-ups. So when I feel like I've had enough of my own company, I head to my co-working room.
Connecting with others is vital for good mental health. We're hard-wired for human contact, even introverts like me. While, as lockdown showed many of us, some downtime from all the busyness is good for us to recharge, it's important to ensure we still see people.
Perhaps you have a busy social life, so you're happy that you have enough connection. But, otherwise, check out co-working opportunities in your community. Some offices have co-working rooms, as do large cafes and conference facilities.
If nothing else, being surrounded by people a day or two a week may make you appreciate your alone time just that bit more!
